Service Industry News welcomes new columnist

In this issue, we are happy to welcome Lauren Broom as a new columnist with Service Industry News.

Lauren comes to us from the Florida Department of Health, where she worked as a health inspector for 17 years. Ms. Broom is a registered sanitarian and has earned her Certified Pool Operator certificate. She currently teaches the Certified Pool Operator curriculum sponsored by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance.

Before joining the pool industry, Lauren attended the University of Central Florida where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology.

Lauren is now an adjunct instructor for Valencia College Accelerated Skills Training Team where she teaches CPO inside of a 10 week Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician Certification program.

We are excited to have Lauren join the Service Industry News team for many reasons: Lauren’s years of experience from her time as a pool inspector and a health regulator is sure to bring stories on waterborne illnesses, public pool sanitation, pool and spa regulatory issues, licensing and laws.

Lauren and her husband and three children all live in Florida, and we welcome ongoing news from a heavy weighted pool state.

Finally, Lauren loves social media and she is really good at it!

Lauren is a member of most pool and spa social media groups including “Ask the Masters”, “Pool Chasers Group”, “Talking Pools’ and “14psi”. She has 5000 Facebook friends.

Given the current move to online connections, information and learning, —especially in this Covid-19 world —Lauren’s presence and expertise with social media provides new and exciting exposure, putting Service Industry News at the top of online posts.

Please look forward to reading Ms. Broom’s new column “Pool Reflections, Lessons and observations from a former state swimming pool inspector” in this issue of Service Industry News.
